A Little Background
Rhodaline Escala-Phelps graduated from the Philippine Normal University (PNU) with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She originally wanted to take up BS Psychology but ended up changing her mind after passing the scholarship examination for the said program and landing a coveted spot in the Top 50. After graduating, she took up teaching jobs in the Philippines, then later explored opportunities in various parts of the world.
Trivia: She originally wanted to be a newscaster.
Braving new Waters & Starting her SEO Business
Since Rhodaline has always been friendly and open to new experiences, braving new waters and adapting to different cultures didn’t become a problem. Armed with her good work ethic and social skills, she was also able to overcome language barriers and expand her network in Prague (Czech Republic) and Japan before finally starting and managing her SEO business.
Having a job that's location-independent was what motivated Rhoda to start her digital enterprise. While she enjoyed teaching, she also wanted to try a more efficient way to make a living. Realizing how much more she can do and earn by working remotely, she decided to pursue her newfound passion. Long hours were spent in front of the computer for virtual training and application; this was to equip herself with the knowledge she needed to give only the best service to her clients.
Balancing Personal & Professional Life
Rhoda believes in the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, which is why despite her busy schedule, she makes sure to have time for her husband; they spend quality time together, go on date nights, and give each other gifts. She makes sure that in the process of achieving her goals, the more important things in her life are not compromised. Family is and has always been her greatest inspiration.
Inspired by mompreneurs, who prove that having a career and caring for one’s family is doable for as long as you manage your time wisely, Rhodaline is determined to succeed in her chosen field and family life. She’s working to gain more experience, get more clients, and be financially independent.
Advice for Students & Young Professionals
Rhodaline advises students and young professionals to strive for satisfaction and live purposefully. She also encourages learning something outside of one’s field, as it helps to broaden knowledge and widen perspectives. With the unlimited resources available online, Rhodaline believes there’s no excuse not to learn anymore.
