KL Tower Sky Box and Tower Walk Experience
Hello there, first of all, thanks for being here. If you're new to the blog, I'm Andi.
As I mentioned in a previous entry, the succeeding posts are (mostly) going to be about some more places we visited in Kuala Lumpur, with helpful information that you can hopefully use on your next trip.
So...There are many things to do in Kuala Lumpur, and one of them includes going to an observation deck where you can see the stunning city skyline. Today, we'll head to KL Tower to try the tower walk activity and get on the sky box.
The Tallest Telecommunication Tower in Asia
KL Tower (also known as Menara Kuala Lumpur) is the tallest telecommunication tower in Southeast Asia and the seventh-tallest in the world. It’s a spindle-shaped structure that stands at 421 meters. You can easily spot it from almost anywhere in the metro because it’s unique compared to the others. It reminds me of a trumpo, a spinning toy in the Philippines that used to be popular back in the day.
So. Upon arrival, we just showed our passes and then joined the queue.
As we headed towards the elevator, a gorgeous ceiling centerpiece caught my eye- the huge glass dome in the photo below. I enjoyed looking at it while waiting for our turn. It was something to appreciate, and the lights made the dome seem sparkly.
The tower takes inspiration from Islamic architecture, as proved by the dome I just showed you (to them, a dome represents the "vault of heaven"). You can also find Arabic elements and design patterns throughout the building.
There's some information available near the entrance if you want to learn more about the structure.
Note: Make sure to book your tickets online to avoid any hassle. I've included a link at the end of this post.
KL Tower Sky Box and Sky Tower Walk Experience
KL Tower Malaysia offers three attractions. They have the Sky Box & Sky Deck, Tower Walk 100, and the Observation Deck. For our trip, we booked the first two. We figured we could skip the observation deck because we could see the same thing from the floor we're visiting.
Sky Box & Sky Deck
The Sky Box is the glass box hanging from the tower 300 meters above ground level. I believe this is their most popular attraction. It does feel thrilling to sit on hanging glass with a complete view of the city, not to mention what's above and below you.
For the Sky Box experience, you only have 30 seconds to pose and take photos (yes, they have a timer).
Thankfully, we got to ask for a bit more time because there were not many tourists on the night we visited. We were able to take many photos as well, not bad hehe.
Another thing... Shoes are not allowed in the Sky Box, so it would be easier to wear a slip-on. But, if you're also doing the Tower Walk, wear runners because they require proper shoes for the activity.
The Sky Deck is where you wait for your turn at the Sky Box. You can stay here for as long as you want and watch the city if that's what you'd like.
Tower Walk 100
While you're there, you might as well try the Sky Tower Walk. It's therapeutic. It may look a bit scary at first, but once you get there, it's relaxing. I enjoyed walking around the edges of KL Tower and just looking at all the lights. There is no time limit for this.
The Sky Tower Walk was my favorite. Everything looked amazing from up there, and I like how, as you go towards the end, there’s a part where they play broken glass sound effects lol. You can’t miss this activity, I highly recommend it! If you’re visiting Kuala Lumpur, remember to include this in your itinerary.
Get Your Tickets via KKDay
For your convenience, I suggest booking ahead of time via KKDay. It’s easy to use, and you can also earn points, which you can use for your next travels.

Where to Go After
To make the most of your day, you book a ride to Pavilion Mall after your KL Tower activity and then walk along Bukit Bintang- this area is very vibrant at night.
