The Best Rides at IMG Worlds of Adventure
When one thinks of Dubai, the skyscrapers or beautiful deserts first come to mind. But did you know that they also have a lot of theme parks perfect for kids and kids at heart? Today, I will walk you through one.
IMG Worlds of Adventure is the largest indoor theme park in Dubai.
It is also the second largest in the world, next to Abu Dhabi's Warner Bros World.
This entertainment destination spans over 1.5 million square feet. With this, expect only the best when you enter the gates. The place is massive and well-maintained.
Getting your passes | How to get tickets?
You can buy them at the counter or get them online. Note that tickets purchased online (for your preferred date) are non-refundable, so see to it that you double-check the correct date for your visit. For promos, you can check out discount sites like Headout or Klook.
We booked ours online via Headout, and that turned out to be a great option. Entering the park was hassle-free.
You can also get your tickets from Klook.
Fun Awaits for Thrill-Seekers at IMG Worlds of Adventure
From high-speed coasters and spinning rides to live shows and cinema domes, you won't run out of excitement during your stay. You only have to plan your navigation using the map they hand out after they scan your tickets.
Planning your route is a great way to make the most of your visit. It's a big park, after all. I suggest visiting The Haunted Hotel or the Forbidden Territory first, then Thor Thunder Spin last.
The Themed Zones
IMG has different "worlds" which they refer to as zones, these are the following: IMG Boulevard, IMG Kids Zone, Lost Valley, Marvel, Haunted Hotel, and Cartoon Network. Technically, the main ones are the last four I mentioned.
IMG Boulevard is the area in the middle where you can shop, dine, or stroll, while the IMG Kids Zone is where you can leave the youngsters to play at the inflatables (close to the entrance).
The Best Rides | What to Expect
You can skip this part if you don’t want to be spoiled. But for the benefit of those who would like to know the vibe and intensity of the attractions, keep scrolling.
Velociraptor
This is IMG's most popular ride, a high-speed roller coaster that goes on multiple loops after it launches you out into the desert.
Predator
It may seem less thrilling than Velociraptor, but it's just as intense (in a different way). The exciting part was when we started going up the steep part before a freefall. Once you go past that, it's smooth. This was my favorite extreme ride.
Spider-Man Doc Ock’s Revenge
Another one on the list is Spider-Man Doc Ock's Revenge, an exhilarating ride perfect for those who like spinning coasters. So here, you hop on a round train, then get launched into what looks like a subway- all while you spin. I don't have photos inside because it was dark (they had a cool setup), but this one is also intense.
Thor Thunder Spin
Dios mio. I am so glad we did this last. Thor Thunder Spin isn’t for everyone. It is a big ride with chairs that spin 360 degrees, all while it goes up and down (for about two floors high). If you have a thing for dizzying rides, you will love this lol. But if you cannot stand the idea of hanging upside down and the feeling of being thrown in the air, skip this.
As for the attractions, I liked the following the most:
Hulk Epsilon Base: a 3D cinematic dome that offers a unique audio-visual experience. A crowd favorite. The queueing area looks very nice too.
Avengers Battle of Ultron: a motion-based 3D ride where you play the role of a trainee for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Cartoon Network Magic Show: if you want something more relaxing, you can check the schedules and attend the magic show. The Filipino magicians we watched were very talented and entertaining.
Outfit | What to Wear
Note that IMG Worlds of Adventure is an indoor park, which means that it is air-conditioned. If you get cold quickly, you can wear a hoodie.
What to wear: light and comfortable clothes that will allow you to move around freely.
What not to wear: tight-fitting shirts, tube tops, clothing items that restrict movement.
As for me, I wanted to wear something a bit stylish but comfy. So I opted for my Purple top and trusty Beige shorts. As for footwear, I wore flats, which wasn't an issue because the roller coaster sections have racks where you can leave your flats or shoes.
Food and Drinks
I suggest eating at the hotel before going to the theme park because snacks and beverages inside IMG are pricey. To prepare for our trip, we had a heavy breakfast, then only had water and coffee inside. You also don’t want to eat too much to avoid an upset stomach after an extreme ride.
Others
Food, drinks, tripods, and selfie sticks are not allowed. They check your bags at the entrance, so if they see items in their prohibited list, they will confiscate them and give you a slip (you can claim them before you leave).
The Verdict
Experiences like these are a one-time thing for me, so I probably won't come back (unless we visit with our little cousins or nieces), but I would give it a rating of 9/10. I love the themes and energy inside the place. IMG is a fun world on its own.
