Getting Better | Natural Remedies for Sore Throat that Work

Writer's picture: Andi Dela Torre GriffithsAndi Dela Torre Griffiths

Hey there, thanks for checking out the blog. If you’re new, I’m Andi.

Sore Thoat...Ouch

The past few days have drained me because I had a mild fever and excruciating sore throat- the latter hurt as heck. Parang kinaskas ng sandpaper lalamunan ko.

I don't often get sick, so it felt weird not having the energy to work, clean, cook, or do the laundry. It felt uncomfortable because while I get stressed out during busy days, it is more stressful to be stuck in bed, incapable of functioning as I would.

But I’ve got to admit, there was some good in it. I got to binge-watch a series called 3% and not think about anything other than recovering (getting better was the only thing that mattered when I was unwell).

I also got to do more puzzles in my word search book; this distracted me from the pain. Ayan nilagyan ko na rin ng stickers yung cover para mawili ako haha. I bedazzled the book using the old stickers I haven’t used for a long time.

I got the word search book at the mall (National Bookstore) for only 199.00 (US$ 3.45 or AU$ 5.45). Great deal! It's fun and challenging. If you want to get yours, you can order one from Shopee.

Going back...

Thankfully, my voice is finally back, and I can smell food again, yay! I can also go back to my usual daily activities now. What a relief. Health truly is wealth. Mas na-appreciate ko ngayon yung mga araw na nagagawa ko yung gusto ko na walang iniisip na sakit.

Natural Remedies for Sore Throat that Work

Now, let me share a few things you can do to soothe a sore throat and eliminate mucus using natural remedies that work (I've tried them all). These are classic homemade solutions, but sometimes they are overlooked.

Prepare a homemade ginger brew

There are different ways to do this, but if you want something simple, you can try the classic mix. Just boil ginger for at least an hour (or until it’s brown), pour it into a mug, and add a few lemon slices. You can also add honey to make it delicious.

Locate your sinus pressure points

There are pressure points you can press firmly to feel better and help with nasal congestion. You can do this anywhere. It only takes a few minutes of your time.

Gargle with salt and warm water

Another classic remedy is to gargle with salt and warm water. Salt can reduce inflammation, and warm water can provide comfort to your throat, especially when it has that sharp, painful sensation. I’m sure both ingredients are available in your kitchen, so make sure to give it a try.

Note: If you think that your sore throat is a symptom of something more serious, please consult a doctor.

So, there you go! If you clicked on this post because you are looking for natural remedies for sore throat that work, I hope this helped and I hope you get better soon.

That would be all for today. If you’ve made it to the end of this post, thank you!
