Ciudad Fernandina Hotel: What to Expect
Last month, coming from a municipality in Ilocos, we figured it would be best to take the bus from Vigan for safety reasons (the Partas station near us was close to where the recent Army-NPA encounter took place), so that's what we did. We traveled to Vigan, then stayed at a nearby hotel after seeing our godparents and before going back to Manila. The place is called Ciudad Fernandina.
Ciudad Fernandina Hotel | Simply Beautiful
Ciudad Fernandina is one of the many accommodations in the city of Vigan- one of the country's UNESCO heritage sites, known for its cobblestone streets, modest vintage museums, and ancestral houses that go way back to the Spanish colonial period.
For those who don't know, Vigan City is a well-preserved Spanish colonial town in North Luzon, Philippines. It is the province of Ilocos Sur's capital, and you can find it on the West Coast.

Facilities & Room Amenities
If you’re looking for someplace to have a proper staycation (where you can watch shows on Netflix, swim, and chill), this may not be for you, as the facilities are limited. There is no swimming pool, sauna, and fitness center.
But if you’re looking for a less-crowded and quiet spot, this is the one. It’s walking distance from the popular spots but far enough from where the noise is.
It is more suitable for travelers who want to spend the night comfortably after a long day.
Of course, the architecture is the same as the others within the vicinity, with all having Chinese, Filipino, and Spanish elements, except this is more toned down compared to Hotel Luna.
Outside, you can read a book or have a cold drink in the afternoon.
As you might have already noticed, it is a small hotel, but it's simple and polished. The walls and the hallways are well-maintained. It is also well-lit at night.
For the room amenities, they have the usual: wi-fi access, cabinets, a safe, a coffee station, a small desk, a fridge, and a fully equipped bathroom.
The Experience | Our Stay
Overall, we had a great stay. We were happy with the location, the comfort, and the service. It would be better, though, if the management improved the bathrooms.
In our bathroom, I didn't use the blow dryer provided because it sounded like it could explode anytime. The bidet was also on the left side, which makes it hard to grab if you're right-handed. Other than that, the rest is fine.
Food & Drinks
The hotel restaurant is only open during the day to serve breakfast, so you might want to get food outside for afternoon snacks and dinner. There are plenty of restaurants along the main street and the plaza. Getting food wouldn't be a problem.
They serve plated breakfast meals with unlimited coffee, juice, or tea. You can see the meal options in one of the photos below (click the arrow to view gallery):
And while you’re there, I highly recommend that you try empanadas- these are fried turnovers with tasty meat filling.
Nearby Attractions | Where to Go
Since the hotel is only two blocks away from Calle Crisologo (the primary spot most people would visit in Vigan), you’re close to the rest of the nearby attractions in this area.
You can check out Plaza Burgos, Plaza Salcedo, Crisologo Museum, the local stores along Calle Crisologo (if you want to get some souvenirs), Baluarte Zoo, Hidden Garden, and RG Jar factory, among others.
You can move around by walking, taking a tricycle, or taking your car. If you want, you can also ride horse-drawn carriages (calesas).
Others
There are water dispensers available on every floor (bring your container). As someone who loves to stay hydrated, unlimited drinking water is something I appreciate a lot.
Ciudad Fernandina Hotel offers a free shuttle service for booked guests traveling within Vigan City. You can ask the receptionist for more information about this.
How to Book a Room or a Suite
You can book a room directly through their website or via Klook on this link.
I guess that would be all for today. Thanks for stopping by!
